This model represents the Cold War-era / Desert Storm-era, seven-sided "square back shield"-type configuration of the Mark 38 Main Battery Fire Control Directors fit to modernized Iowa-class battleships as they appeared in the 1990s.

enlarged, 7-sided "square back" WWII-configuration Mk.38 director
