Some ships of the Royal Navy carried the US-designed Mark 37 fire control director with British-designed radar, including the Royal Navy's last battleship, HMS Vanguard and some Battle-class destroyers including HMS Agincourt.  Mark 37 fire control directors were used to control the fire of battleship Vanguard's 5.25 inch (133 mm) dual-purpose guns or a destroyer's 4.5 inch (114 mm) guns against both aircraft and surface targets, to direct the fire of starshells for the illumination of surface targets, and to position the searchlights.

HMS Vanguard carried four of these directors, with UK-designed centimetric Radar Type 275 fit to them giving the ship true "blind-fire" capability.  Battle-class destroyers carried one director.

Ships known to have carried this director and radar combination include:

  • HMS Vanguard
  • HMS Agincourt D68
  • HMS Alamein D17
  • HMS Aisne D22
  • HMS Barrosa D68
  • HMS Matapan D43
  • HMS Corunna D97
  • HMS Dunkirk D09
