This set represents the original, six-sided configuration of the Mark 38 Main Battery Fire Control Directors fit to some of the fast battleships of the North Carolina-class, South Dakota-class, USS Iowa BB-61 and USS New Jersey BB-62. 
 
USS Missouri BB-63 and USS Wisconsin BB-64 were fit with the 7-sided shield Mk.38 directors (available separately).
