Some ships of the Royal Navy carried the US-designed Mark 37 fire control director with British-designed radar, including late (1943) Battle-class destroyers and the Royal Navy's last battleship, HMS Vanguard. Mark 37 fire control directors were used to control the fire of the twin and single 4.5 inch dual-purpose guns against both aircraft and surface targets, to direct the fire of starshells for the illumination of surface targets, and to position the searchlights. The UK-designed centimetric Radar Type 275 gave these ships true "blind-fire" capability.
Battle-class destroyers known to have been fit with this director include:
- HMS Agincourt
- HMS Aisne
- HMS Alamein
- HMS Barrosa
- HMS Corunna
- HMS Dunkirk
- HMS Jutland
- HMS Matapan
