The Treasury class, high-endurance, United States Coast Guard Cutter Roger B. Taney WHEC-37 served from 1936 to 1986 and is now preserved as museum ship at Baltimore, Maryland. Throughout her lengthy 50-year career of active service, she was variously fit with one, two or four 5"/38 cal. Mk.30 Mod.60 single mounts. This set provides two mounts. If you are building Roger B. Taney as she appeared in late World War Two, please purchase 2 sets (4 mounts total) to complete your model.
Among naval historians, the US Navy 5"/38 caliber gun is considered the best intermediate-caliber, dual purpose naval gun of World War II. This type was installed on several classes of destroyers, destroyer escorts, auxiliaries such as Currituck class seaplane tenders, Coast Guard cutters, as well as the battleship USS Idaho BB-42 and the nuclear-powered cruiser USS Long Beach CGN-9.
The "Lightweight" or "Single Knuckle" version was normally placed in locations where roof reinforcement was not required. The late version, reproduced here, appeared sometime after 1942, had no stiffeners on the front of the gunhouse and additional fasteners on access hatches. An alarm bell was often fitted to the rear of the mount.
This multi-part, unassembled model kit can be made rotatable and the gun can be positioned at any elevation.
Features:
- an asymmetrical gunhouse (turret)
- slot for accurately offset barrel
- detailed turret bottom supporting structure
- rear vent and alarm bell

From Wikipedia: "USCGC Taney (WPG/WAGC/WHEC-37) (/ˈteɪniː/ tay-nee) is a United States Coast Guard High Endurance Cutter, notable as the last ship floating that fought in the attack on Pearl Harbor,[3] although Taney was actually moored in nearby Honolulu Harbor not Pearl Harbor itself. She was named for Roger B. Taney (1777–1864), who was at various times: US Attorney General, Secretary of the Treasury, and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. She is also one of two Treasury-class (out of seven total) Coast Guard Cutters still afloat. Serving her country for 50 years, the Taney saw action in both theaters of combat in World War II, serving as command ship at the Battle of Okinawa, and as part of fleet escort in the Atlantic and Mediterranean. She also served in the Vietnam War in Operation Market Time. Taney also patrolled the seas working in drug interdiction and fisheries protection and participated in the search for Amelia Earhart."
