Scale: 1/350
Set includes 3 turrets with separate trunnions. No barrels.
Recommended for an O-class battlecruiser or to help build the reconstructed Scharnhorst class battleship Gneisenau from:
- Dragon 1/350 scale Scharnhorst 1941
- Dragon 1/350 scale Scharnhorst 1943
- Iron Shipwrights 1/350 scale Scharnhorst
- Trumpeter 1/350 scale O-class battlecruiser Barbarossa
This set of 3 turrets represents the proposed 38 cm (15") main battery of the World War Two-era Deutsche Kriegsmarine O-class battlecruisers and battleship Gneisenau, more properly known as the Drh L/47 C/34 mount with SK C/34 guns.
It had been proposed to arm the O-class battlecruisers and rearm the battleships of the Scharnhorst class with the same twin-gun turrets carried by battleships Bismarck and Tirpitz. Following severe damage to Gneisenau's bow during a bombing attack, work began to rearm the ship as part of her repairs but this work was never completed. Had the work proceeded as planned, Gneisenau would have emerged from the rebuilding with three of these twin-gun turrets.
