This pair of models represents the drum-shaped Mk.27 main battery fire control directors of Portland-class heavy cruisers USS Portland CA-33 and USS Indianapolis CA-35. The directors' features match the ships' 1943-early 1944 configuration, after the rangefinder hoods were cut down in height to provide space for a rooftop radar antenna. These directors were used to help control the fire of the ships' 8"/55 cal. triple-gun turrets. They were replaced with Mk.34 directors in late 1944.
