The US Navy Mark 37 Director was used to control the fire of the 5”/38 caliber dual purpose batteries against both aircraft and surface targets, to direct the fire of starshells for the illumination of surface targets, and to position the searchlights.
The "angle-back" Mk.37 director featured six observation hatches and three telescope port covers. "Angle-backs" were fit to USS Saratoga CV-3, USS Iowa BB-61, USS New Jersey BB-62 and battleships of the North Carolina class and South Dakota class. Many of these Mk.37 directors were modified to later configurations.
These models are scaled from official US Navy drawings and detailed according to careful study of an angle-back director mounted to USS North Carolina BB-55. These models are not 3D-printed copies of any plastic or resin model kit's parts therefore they may be sized and shaped differently. Some adjustment to your kit's parts or other aftermarket products such as photo-etch may be necessary for best fit.
