This model represents the US Navy's Cold War-era SPG-25 radar antenna normally fit to Mk.37 Fire Control Directors. This antenna was sometimes referred to as the Mark 25 radar. Another type of antenna, one with an open framework, was also common. Please consult your references to know which antenna is correct for your model ship.
The US Navy Mark 37 Director was used to control the fire of the 5”/38 caliber dual purpose batteries against both aircraft and surface targets, to direct the fire of starshells for the illumination of surface targets and to position the searchlights.
Mark 37 fire control directors, and open dish SPG-25 antenna with supports, and open dish SPG-25 antenna without supports, are available separately.
