This model represent one of two fire control stations, known as "fighting tops", of the battleships USS Tennessee BB-43 and USS California BB-44 as the ships appeared from 1935-1941. This model represents the forward fighting top ("Fore Top").  The model's overall dimensions are based on drawings made by Alan B. Chesley of the ships as they appeared in 1935. Details were confirmed by careful examination of available photographs of the actual ships taken from 1937-1941.
 
This fighting top is designed with open shutters all around and is specific to USS Tennessee and USS California. Other fighting tops for similar ships may be differently shaped. The aft fighting top ("Main Top") and Tennessee-class fighting tops as they appeared from 1921 through 1934 are available separately.
